A quarter of swindlers, posing as vacuum cleaner salesmen, are sailing on a steamer to Africa and get stranded in Italy, while the ship is repaired. Heading to Africa to buy some land supposedly rich in uranium, the quarter meet a seemingly-innocent British couple also enroute to Africa. Things are not as they seem as identities are revealed and true intentions are discovered in this dry comedy directed by John Huston.
